DUI Laws Continued

THE NEW ACT EFFECTIVE AUGUST 19, 2003 ALSO CHANGED SOUTH CAROLINA'S PER SE DUI LAW, DRIVING WITH AN UNLAWFUL ALCOHOL CONENTRATION FROM A .10 BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENTTO A .08 BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT.

THE NEW LAW WILL BE POSTED HERE SOON.

Speeding and other point violations:

All States have some form of a point system for violations. The system works on the principle that after accumulation of a certain number of points, one can have his or her driver's license revoked or suspended. For out of State drivers these points may transfer back to their home State if that State is a subscriber to a Non-Resident Motorist Violators Compact.

It is also important to remember that the points received can affect a driver's insurance premiums.
